Pam’s Story

I started working out with Rhonda [in] 2013. I weighed 178 lbs. I have Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Spinal Stenosis and through the end of that year also had 5 upper respiratory infections. I was also unknowingly working with a meniscus and a partial bicep and bursa tear.

The very first day Rhonda told me,” No more diet soda! Drink a lot of water.” And she talked to me about food choices and healthy eating. She kept an eye on how I was doing with that too. Rhonda encouraged me to get some exercise 6 days a week. No matter what I presented her with she always found a way to work around things. She made me want to work.

I lost 20 lbs while during our sessions, the inflammation from my Lupus and fibro improved significantly, my back hasn’t felt this good in years. Only one upper respiratory infection since then.

After my private sessions with Rhonda I then joined her group training. In February I had surgery on the meniscus tear and physical therapy for the bicep and bursa tear but I am now back to group training. I totally respect and admire Rhonda’s abilities.

Patti’s Story

Working with Rhonda … has been one of the best experiences of my life. [I was] overweight and had very little confidence in my physical abilities. When I walked into the gym… and met with Rhonda…I cried tears of frustration at what I couldn’t do.

Ten months later, I can proudly say that I have lost both pounds and inches, but more importantly, I’ve gained strength and confidence. Today when I look in the mirror I see a strong, proud woman who is comfortable in her body…I’ve learned that it’s okay to push myself and to fail; the success comes from picking myself up and trying again.

Maggie’s Story

2 women, 1 blonde, middle-aged with dark clothes on left and 1 slightly overweight woman on right with purplish-pink shirt posing together and smiling in a gym.

My decision to change my life came one evening in late February 2014. I was at a meeting for my son’s 4th grade field trip. The teachers were talking about all the walking involved on the day-long trip. They kept stressing that if you couldn’t do all the walking, please do not attend. My son looked at me and said, “But you’ll still go, won’t you, Mom?” My heart broke…

At this point in my life, I was on medication for Gout and insulin resistance. My triglycerides were high, and I had the beginnings of fatty liver disease. My doctor wanted to start me on injections for a chronic immune disease. I couldn’t walk too far at one time because of Gout pain. My reproductive system was off kilter due to PCOS. Sadly, I knew most of what was wrong with me was because of my weight and how out of shape I was.

I decided to try and fix things. I was so tired of being sick, being a bystander in my own life, and not taking an active role in my son’s life. In March 2014 I met Rhonda James for the first time. That first night Rhonda and I mostly talked about my goals. I only had one goal. Go on that Field Trip to Hannibal and not disappoint my son!

Six weeks after my first session with Rhonda was the Field Trip. I sent Rhonda a text that said, “I’m CRUSHING this!” My son and I had a blast, and it was a memory I’ll always treasure.

I’m definitely a work in progress. I have a long way to go, but I try to focus on how far I’ve come. I’ve lost pounds and inches, but more important, my overall health is so much better. Rhonda pushes me to do my best, and to dig deep. When she demonstrates a new exercise she wants me to do, I’ll say, “I can’t do that!” She just looks at me and says, “I know you can.”

If you had told me last March that eventually I’d be able to walk without pain, ride a bike again, and get through the day without a nap, I’d have never believed you. Every day is better than the day before!
